Presentation

The last technological revolution has enabled the emergence of new products that combine specialized content and multimedia formats: infographics, documentaries and subtitled videos for digital platforms, TED talks, online education, science outreach events, medical apps and video games, among others. In all of them, translation plays a crucial role in facilitating access to knowledge, culture, and entertainment for everyone.

The aim of the TRADAMACC research group is to study specialized communication in new multimodal environments that require both advanced technological and thematic competence as well as high doses of creativity. We analyze and tailor these new forms of communication so that they can be an instrument for access to scientific knowledge and culture by people with different abilities and belonging to a diversity of socio-cultural environments (Tercedor, López-Rodríguez & Prieto, 2007).

To this end, we delve into the challenges posed by the interlinguistic, intersemiotic and intralinguistic translation of specialized content in science, medicine, history, performing arts or music. Likewise, the TRADAMACC research group focuses on translation for easy reading and on multimodal translation modalities such as the translation of comics, graphic novels or video games.

We are currently working in the projects VISUALECT, INCLUMED, and EIMITA (Emotion and image in eating habits and eating disorders: interlinguistic accessible communication).
